The MISBO + IDEO Project is a collaboration between MISBO and IDEO along with a cohort of 12 independent schools from across the globe, in which we attempt to imagine a new future for independent schools. Our schools continue to demonstrate their ability to be innovative in terms of learning, teaching, and reinventing the model of education, but little has been done to support this innovation for the business model. Over the past several months, with the support of the IDEO team, the cohort schools have learned about innovation, business design, design thinking, experimenting, prototyping, etc., and now they are ready to share their stories with the wider independent school community. During this workshop, teams from the cohort schools – through a series of TED-style talks – will share their stories of learning, experimenting, prototyping, success, and failure. They will talk about the challenges in thinking about innovation, especially as it relates to a business model that has been firmly entrenched in independent schools for a very long time. Many of these schools are now exploring bigger, longer-term strategies to change their business models and their stories will help all attendees think about this for their own schools.

CPE INFORMATION:
Field of Study: Business Management & Organization - Non-Technical
Learning Objective: Attendees will discover possible strategies schools can use to imagine new business models for independent schools, as well as learn how to build capacity for school leadership to think and act innovatively.
